Mihaela Popescu has joined Idea Bank Romania as its new General Compliance Head.
Before her new role, Popescu was the Legal & Compliance Director at GetBack Recovery Romania. Before joining GetBack Recovery in 2017, she was the Head of Legal & Compliance at Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Romania. She has also spent a year and a half as Legal Counsel at Intesa SanPaolo Leasing and Intesa SanPaolo Bank, preceded by almost seven years as Legal Counsel for Planet Leasing & Factoring.
“With quite a broad expertise on the legal side of things, it was time for me to deepen my knowledge in compliance, but in a banking setting this time, as they have higher standards in this area, which needs to be aligned first of all with the requirements of the central bank,” Popescu explained. “Thus I took the opportunity given to me to be General Compliance Head in Idea Bank – an independent entity of the Getin Holding group, one of the most dynamic financial groups in CEE.”
