First Investment Bank Appoints Anton Petrov to Chief Compliance Director

First Investment Bank has appointed Anton Petrov as Chief Compliance Director in Bulgaria.

Petrov has been with the bank since 2017 when he joined as a Legal Counsel International Legal Affairs. In June 2018, he was promoted to Head International Legal Affairs, and, in 2020, he was appointed to Deputy Director Legal (reported by CEE In-House Matters on November 9, 2020).

Prior to FIB, Petrov worked as a Senior Legal Officer and Risk Assessment Lead with the EU Regional Development Funds Managing Authority in Bulgaria. Earlier still, he spent two years as a Project-Based Tender Expert for the EBRD. 

Before moving in-house, Petrov worked as a Legal Associate with Hristov & Partners and as a Legal Counsel & Tax Consultant with PwC. He has also served as Junior Legal Counsel for Mel Invest Holding and as a Fulbright Legal Trainee for the District Court of Sofia. 

“The reason I took on this role is that I believe that compliance is the cornerstone of any successful financial institution, and I want to be a part of ensuring that Fibank operates with the highest level of integrity and transparency,” Petrov commented. “In my new role, I am looking forward to tackling various challenges such as enhancing the bank’s compliance policies and procedures, providing training and education to employees, and identifying and mitigating any compliance risks. I believe that by working closely with the bank’s leadership and staff, we can further enhance the strong culture of compliance that is already in place at the bank which would benefit both the institution and its customers. Rusen worked at Karadeniz Holding earlier in her career, between 2009 and 2012, as a Legal Manager. She (re)joins from Siemens Mobility Ulasim Sistemleri, where she worked as a Head of Legal between 2019 and 2025.
